A NORTH-east charity is calling on people from in and around Stonehaven to get on their bike to help raise funds for people who are blind and/or deaf.
North East Sensory Services, (NESS), which has offices in Aberdeen, Dundee and Elgin, is organising its annual Great Stonehaven Bike Ride, which takes place on Sunday 13 September at 12pm.
The bike ride, which starts and finishes at Stonehaven Scout Hut, has raised over £100,000 over the past 20 years for NESS.
The 25-mile circular route winds through Netherley, Denside of Durris, Cairn-mon-earn, Swanley, Stonehaven and Fetteresso, and a shorter 11-mile family-friendly route is also available.
Neil Skene, NESS fund-raising co-ordinator, said: “The annual Great Stonehaven Bike Ride is always a popular event and we are looking forward to welcoming people of all ages, along with seasoned NESS campaigners coming along to support us.
“The 25-mile route is an enjoyable ride around the Mearns countryside which should take less than two hours, but we have a short 11-mile route for those looking for less of a challenge.
“Last year we raised almost £2,000 which went towards helping people who are blind and/or deaf in the North-east.
Entry is £10 per person, or £30 for a team of four for the 11-mile course, or £15 for the 25 mile course. Entries on the day are subject to a £5 admin fee.
Entries can be made online at www.q-buster.co.uk or entry packs and further information are available from NESS on 0845 2712345 or email them on info@nesensoryservices.org
