TURNER PRIZE GOES ON THE ROAD ACROSS SCOTLAND:
THE ORKNEYS, HIGHLANDS, EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE, SOUTH AYRSHIRE, PERTH & KINROSS, NORTH AYRSHIRE, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW
AS part of the celebrations of the Turner Prize 2015 in Scotland, The Travelling Gallery will take a special show out on the road across Scotland featuring a roll-call of past Scottish Turner Prize winners and nominees, starting on 22 August 2015, then travelling right across Scotland as far as the Highlands and the Orkney Islands, visiting schools, galleries and community centres, and returning to Glasgow to coincide with the announcement of this year’s Turner Prize winner on 7 December 2015.
The exhibition, entitled Eyes on the Prize, features the work of:

Custom built as a mobile, contemporary art space, the Travelling Gallery is fully accessible and is based on a Scania Omni Decca 12-metre chassis.
It is fully air-conditioned, naturally lit through integrated roof panels, with additional lighting from a suspended lighting track, and the latest audio visual equipment.
All it needs is two 13amp sockets to run in any location it visits. The exhibition programme features work by both established and emerging Scottish and international artists.
The Travelling Gallery tour is conceived to put the spotlight on the quality and range of Scotland’s contribution to contemporary art, and bring it to everyone in every part of the community.
It coincides with the Turner Prize 2015 presentation at Tramway in Glasgow, with an exhibition of the four shortlisted artists, Assemble, Bonnie Camplin, Janice Kerbel and Nicole Wermers, opening on 1 October 2015, and the announcement of the winner on 7 December 2015.

“Eyes on the Prize has been inspired by Glasgow’s hosting of the Turner Prize, and brings together an excellent selection of work from artists based in Scotland who have been associated with the Prize.
“This touring exhibition is a great way to bring important works of art to new audiences and we hope the experience will encourage people to visit the Turner Prize exhibition when it is on at Tramway later in the year.”
Alison Chisholm, Travelling Gallery curator, said: We are very excited to be taking our bus load of Turner Prize artists’ work around the country. Most of the artists in the exhibition have exhibited their work previously in the Travelling Gallery before their nominations, so it has been a real pleasure to work with them again.
“The exhibition incorporates a wide variety of work – including printmaking, sculpture, animation, video, painting and site specific installations. So there should be something for everyone to enjoy.”

The Turner Prize is awarded by Tate to contemporary artists. It is presented annually to a British artist under fifty years old who has exhibited outstanding work the previous year. It takes its name from the British painter J.M.W. Turner. The prize was first awarded in 1984.
A shortlist of nominees is released prior to the announcement of the winner, who is awarded £25,000; the other artists shortlisted each receive £5,000. In addition to presenting the prize, an exhibition is held presenting the work of all the nominees. The purpose of the prize, and its accompanying exhibition, is to promote and encourage public discussion of contemporary British art. From 2011 onwards, the prize and its accompanying exhibition has been held in an art-space outside of London every other year. This year, it is being held in Glasgow. The four shortlisted artists for 2015 Turner Prize are: Assemble, Bonnie Camplin, Janice Kerbel and Nicole Wermers.
The Turner Prize exhibition will be held in Tramway in Glasgow, from October 1st 2015 until January 17th 2016. The winner of the Turner Prize 2015 will be announced on the 7th of December.
