SCOTLAND’S small business owners now have a dedicated online music channel to include in their daily listening habits.
Scottish Business Radio launched earlier this month and plays a diet of up-tempo rock and pop designed to fire up entrepreneurs.
Tracks from the likes of Calvin Harris, Depeche Mode, the Rolling Stones and Ellie Goulding are interspersed with short, snappy ‘information bites’ to help businesses grow.
Founder, Colin Kelly says: “Scotland has a thriving business community – including many sole traders – and I wanted to create a channel that would keep them feeling connected and positive even during the tough times.
“So if you’re working late, or on the go early, you can hear songs to make you feel good and get quick bits of advice to help your business.”
You can listen to Scottish Business Radio online at www.scottishbusinessradio.com and through the ‘TuneIn’ app, by searching for ‘Scottish Business Radio’.
“I’ve been pretty encouraged by the response I’ve had,” says Kelly.
“And I’ve been approached by several business owners who are interested in producing their own content for the channel.
“I want to keep the commercials to a minimum but I’ve a few ideas up my sleeve to make it work, financially.”
A Twitter channel operates alongside the music stream, sharing essential information from throughout the Scottish business community.
It can be found @scotbizradio.
Although primarily a music channel, Scottish Business Radio plans to broadcast occasional speech programmes during special events.
“I’m convinced there’s a gap in the market for this,” says Kelly. “And I love the thrill of building something from scratch.”
