Media and communications officer – See Me

‘SEE me’ is Scotland’s national programme for reducing stigma and discrimination against people with mental health problems. The programme aims to ensure that people with mental health problems are able to live full and equal lives without fear or experience of discrimination.

Building upon the legacy of the ‘see me’ campaign, the new programme will ensure that people with ‘lived experience’ are at the heart of everything we do and will be underpinned by a human rights based approach.

MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

37.5 hours per week (Ref: C164)

£28,866 – £31,967

We are seeking to recruit a passionate and experienced communications expert who has a good understanding of social issues in Scotland. You will be responsible for developing media and communication strategies aimed at raising the profile, preserving and maintaining the reputation of ‘see me’ by delivering our key messages clearly and accurately to a wide range of key stakeholders. Your main priority will be to place high quality news and features stories whilst building effective relationships with local, Scottish and UK media and beyond.

You will have first-class written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to write creatively for a wide range of audiences and purposes including newsletters, presentations, web, blog and promotional videos.

‘see me’ is managed in partnership between Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Mental Health Foundation and is funded by the Scottish Government and Comic Relief until October 2016.

Closing date for all applications is Friday 21st March 2014 @ 12 noon.

Interviews will take place week commencing 7th April 2014.
