CLOSING DATE: May 12, 2017
THE Press and Journal newspaper and the Energy Voice website have key jobs to fill:
P&J business editor
P&J court reporter
P&J news reporters
Energy Voice – digital content producer
HIGH-profile business journalism jobs do not come much bigger than this – could you rise to the challenge of being our next BUSINESS EDITOR?
You will lead and shape our business coverage across the north and north-east of Scotland. The successful candidate will be skilled at networking extensively among our business communities, with a natural emphasis on oil and gas. You must be on top of your subject and have extensive business journalism experience.
Building impressive contacts and breaking exclusive business stories on the front page, as well as the business pages, are an essential part of the job.
Above all, you must stand out from the crowd and become a leading voice in the business sector.
We are seeking an experienced COURT REPORTER to cover cases at sheriff and high courts in Aberdeen on a daily basis, and occasionally farther afield when required for certain cases. You will be equally comfortable dealing with major court stories as well as ‘bread and butter’ hearings.
This is a specialised position which demands a keen interest in legal affairs and good working knowledge of media law and court procedure, as well as a strong news sense and excellent writing ability. The successful candidate will also build good contacts within the courts.
We also have opportunities for NEWS REPORTERS at various locations in our circulation area – at Aberdeen, Elgin and Fort William.
Newsroom experience is vital – reporters are at the sharp end of our news operation, where enthusiasm and determination are vital.
A great eye for a story, an inquisitive mind and the ability to develop good contacts, and exclusive stories, are an essential requirement for successful candidates.
The Press and Journal produces six distinct editions aimed as specific communities across the Highlands and Grampian – six days a week.
All the above roles would also involve input into our P&J website.
We are also strengthening our ENERGY VOICE team and looking for a talented online journalist to help continue our EV success story. Our EV website is the one-stop place to go for online news about everything to do with the oil and gas industry – both in Scotland and globally.
But it’s not stuck in the office all the time as our team get out and about – building contacts within the industry, and breaking exclusive oil and gas stories.
It’s a fast-paced environment where being first with breaking oil and gas news online is our priority.
Relevant experience is preferable, along with a keen interest in the industry.
This is your chance to work in a rewarding environment where benefits include a competitive salary, medical benefits, company pension scheme and a generous holiday allowance.
