Job introduction
THE Lennox Herald is looking for a brilliant editor to lead its team of journalists in developing the paper in print and online.
Covering a busy news patch around Dumbarton and West Dunbartonshire, the Lennox is a highly-trusted source of news and sport.
We now seek a new editor to continue developing the paper – both in print and digitally – and enhancing its reputation as the go-to place for all that’s happening on its patch.
This is a rare opportunity for an editorship within a stable of newspapers which is outperforming the marketplace but still has the desire to keep on improving.
Role responsibility
The successful candidate will oversee and lead a team of reporters and work hand-in-hand with the Media Scotland Regionals production unit to produce eye-catching, dynamic pages.
You will also oversee content on the West Dunbartonshire In Your Area section of dailyrecord.co.uk.
There will also be a requirement for representing the paper in an ambassadorial role, and an ability to make and develop community contacts is essential.
The ideal candidate
The editor must be goal-focused – particularly on circulation and online traffic – and understand how journalism drives these key metrics.
Based in Glasgow, the editor must be able to lead a team of talented reporters while also contributing to the content of the paper and website.
We’re looking for journalistic excellence combined with the commercial know-how to turn great content into print sales and digital readers.
A strong journalistic background is essential while experience of leading a small team is desirable.
