WHETHER it’s TV, radio, print or online – I’m passionate about the media and helping people use it to get themselves and their business noticed for the right reason.

I graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BA Journalism in 1999 and began a career as a radio and television presenter, working with Real Radio, Radio Clyde, STV and BBC Radio Scotland.

My wife and I started a family earlier this year so I decided to give up the 3am alarm calls that were part and parcel of my job presenting ‘Morning Briefing’ on BBC Radio Scotland and formed my own communications consultancy – Colin Kelly Media. Working for myself was an ambition I’d had since I was 12 years old.

I deliver public relations support, media skills training and social media training. Recently, I’ve worked with several MSPs and a group of business owners on their media relations strategy, helping them deal with journalists, give better interviews and get their messages across. These are skills than can be taught and you can benefit from the opportunities.

My company also writes and distributes press releases and produces corporate videos. We have a full professional video production facility including green screen and professional lighting and editing facilities.

I work very closely with digital marketing agency NSDesign and deliver social media training in partnership with them.

Outside work, my nine month-old son ensures I continue to frequently wake up at 3am and I enjoy taking him swimming, going for walks and, when I get the chance, reading the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child.
