THE Daily Record has extended its app offering, adding to its iPad app launched in December.
The app, which includes content from the Record’s Sunday sister title, the Sunday Mail, is now available for both iPad and Android tablets. Both titles will now be available seven days-a-week in the UK and overseas.
Says a media release from publishers, Media Scotland: “The new subscription models for these apps will include the entire content of the printed edition plus breaking news, videos, picture galleries and interactive crosswords. New and existing readers get the app free for a month trial before moving to a monthly rate of £9.99.
“Unlike other newspaper groups, readers still get website and mobile content for free.”
Allan Rennie, editor-in-chief, is quoted, as saying: “This is an exciting time in the history of the Daily Record and the Sunday Mail. We led the way in print technology when we became the first newspaper to publish colour pictures and our new tablet is another landmark.
“Our readers, whether at home or abroad, can now get their newspaper delivered to them every morning. With added video, pictures and interactive crosswords it represents a great deal – at around 33p a day for Scotland’s best-read newspapers. We will continue to offer readers free website and mobile with an increased focus on breaking news, sport and comment.”
