A ‘LIFESTYLE’ app is being launched this weekend by the Sunday Herald newspaper.
Says the paper, Sunday Herald Life will take “the form of a digital magazine and incorporates articles from the Sunday Herald archives as well as new exclusive content created for the app only”.
Adds the paper: “The title page – which is being kept under wraps until the launch – features an exclusive preview of a photoshoot by Scottish photographer, Albert Watson, for the publicity poster for the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Swedish vampire drama Let The Right One In.
“The app also features directories of Scottish fashion designers, film directors, authors and musicians, which will be added to in future editions.”
Other content includes restaurant reviews, recipes, travel and fashion. There is also a ‘world’ section featuring an eyewitness report from Haiti by Sunday Herald foreign editor, David Pratt, and a photo essay in Brooklyn by former Sunday Herald picture editor, Elaine Livingstone.
There is already a news app comprising content from both Sunday Herald and sister title, The Herald.
Sunday Herald Life is being sponsored by ScotRail. It has been built and designed by the paper’s editor, Richard Walker, and Herald and Times digital innovation manager, Grant Gibson, with help from multi-media person, Damian Shields, and contributions from the group picture desk and other staff members.
The app will be available to download free from the Apple app store from Sunday morning. A second edition will be available next month, with planned regular updates every month.
