THE Sunday Herald is to launch an app that will give users access to content from the paper’s archives, plus editorial exclusive to it.
Editor, Richard Walker, revealed the plans at Edinburgh Napier University’s Media Mondays series yesterday.
The weekly public lecture series brings prominent media figures to the university’s Merchiston Campus to discuss the big issues of the day.
The planned Sunday Herald Life app, said Walker, would allow users to access archived and new feature content in categories such as music and film, and was “80 to 90 per cent finished”.
Its first incarnation will be for the iPad.
The journalist, who started his career in the late 1970s at the then Guthrie Newspapers group in Ayrshire, has been Sunday Herald editor for four years.
Walker has also had stints working for Scotland on Sunday, the Evening Times and the Daily Record.
Previous speakers at Media Mondays have included Channel 4 News chief correspondent Alex Thomson, BBC Scotland investigations correspondent Mark Daly, Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark and Director of Content at STV, Alan Clements.
