IPAD apps for the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers are to be launched soon, along with revamped websites for the local newspapers operated by publishers, Media Scotland – the Scottish division of Trinity Mirror.
It follows a revamping of www.dailyrecord.co.uk, which took place last week.
Says Trinity Mirror of last week’s development: “The clean, modern design and extra functionality is the first step in a series of innovations which will make Media Scotland the country’s leading digital publisher.
“Following the August 1 launch of the new Daily Record and Sunday Mail site, the Record’s mobile site will be revamped in the coming weeks. iPad editions of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail will be launched and Media Scotland’s regional websites will move on to Escenic and get a new design.
“The new Record website uses the Escenic web content management system and is based on [sister title, the] Mirror’s hugely successful redesign earlier this year.”
A media released issued by Trinity Mirror quotes Media Scotland’s digital editorial director, Ewan Watt, as saying: “The new Daily Record and Sunday Mail website has been very well received by staff and readers. It allows us to showcase our great journalism, pictures, video and live coverage in a far more engaging way.
“The revamp was a huge team effort by staff in Glasgow and London and is testament to the passion and sheer hard work of Trinity Mirror’s digital staff.
“We’re excited about the new opportunities – and that comes on top of a record-breaking July, when we had just under three million monthly unique visitors, an increase of 78 per cent on the same month last year.”
