An app for mobile devices produced by STV – that allows users to catch up on TV programmes they might have recently missed – has been shortlisted in a competition comprising customers of a global company describing itself as a “leading online video hosting platform and online video player solution”.
The STV Player app has been shortlisted in the 'Best Connected TV App’ category at the Brightcove PLAY 2012 Awards taking place in Boston, USA, on Wednesday.
Says STV: “The Brightcove Innovation Awards recognise some of the most innovative, cutting edge online video and mobile app initiatives and campaigns across a number of industries and use cases.”
In a statement issued by STV, Alistair Brown, chief technology and platforms officer for STV, is quoted, as saying: “We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated for this prestigious award in a ceremony which is recognising some of the best and most innovative global players in this field. We strive to be as innovative as possible in the continued development of our digital products and services, as we make STV products available across multiple platforms, and to be recognised for the STV Player service at an international level is fantastic.”
