THE Edinburgh-based professional body for chartered accountants, ICAS, has appointed a business journalist from Irish broadcasters, RTE, to oversee the revamping of its web offering.
The body has taken on Padraic Ryan, who, as well as providing business news for RTE’s website, freelanced for the Irish Independent and the Sunday Independent.
ICAS is launching a new website which will provide news of all matters relating to business, finance and accountancy for their 19,000 chartered accountants who are based around the UK and in 100 different countries around the world.
Says ICAS executive director and former BBC Scotland head of news and current affairs, Atholl Duncan: “Padraic is a great addition to the ICAS team. As well as being a really good young business journalist he is also very attuned to the latest application of digital and social media and how to use it to communicate effectively to an audience.”
ICAS has recently expanded significantly outside Scotland and now has around 4,000 CAs working in the City of London and 3,500 in the major business centres around the world including Sydney, Hong Kong, New York, California and the Middle East.
