Press website and magazine, the Press Gazette, has secured five nominations in a competition which seeks to recognise the best in online journalism.
The Online Media Awards – run by Glasgow-based The Drum media and marketing magazine – includes former Scotsman and Sunday Herald editor, Andrew Jaspan, among its judges, along with David Mill, former online editor of Mirror Group; Noel Young, former group managing editor of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail; Charles McGhee, former editor of The Herald; and Jim Chisholm, former director of the World Association of Newspapers.
The winners will be announced on the 23rd of next month.
Says The Drum's founder, Gordon Young, in a statement issued by the magazine: “As online services develop there is no doubt that the quality of the journalism will ultimately decide which platforms are simply a flash in the pan and which ones endure.
“That is why it is important that there is an event to recognise and celebrate who is getting it right.
“The standard of entries has been extremely high and this has ensured a high octane shortlist. Our judges really have their work cut out in terms of deciding who will pick up the prestigious awards next month.”
