The Scottish Government agency, Historic Scotland, has won an award for its use of social media.
At the Institute of Internal Communications’ annual Scottish awards, Historic Scotland's Social Media prize added to Best Website victories in previous years.
Says a statement release by the agency: “Historic Scotland took its first steps into the world of social media in 2009 and last year saw us develop a strong presence on sites as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr to engage with its visitors.”
The agency describes itself as “an executive agency of the Scottish Government charged with safeguarding the nation’s historic environment”.
The statement quotes Historic Scotland's digital manager, Linda Kong, as saying: “The award category supports the fact that social media is everywhere and that conversations are taking place about us whether we like it or not. By engaging in social media, it means we can be a part of that conversation to help us keep in touch with our customers directly and gain real insight into what customers really think about us.”
