Glasgow Freelancer Resurrects Commercial Property Website

A website devoted to the reporting of Scottish commercial property news has been relaunched following an absence of over a year.

Owned and edited by Glasgow-based freelance writer, Stewart McIntosh, compropscotland.com aims to take the coverage of the commercial property sector to a more advanced level.

He told allmediascotland.com: “Although it’s as big as oil and gas combined, the commercial property sector gets very little coverage in the business pages. We aim to plug that gap. With the sector still clawing its way out from under the rubble of the property crash, we’ll follow the recovery story – step-by-step and brick-by-brick. We’ll chart the challenges, report the reversals and celebrate the successes.”

Before the previous partners – McIntosh, plus fellow journalists, Ken Houston and the late Jim Dow – took compropscotland offline, the site was achieving two million hits a year, but its design didn’t attract enough advertising and sponsorship to justify the time input from three senior journalists.

McIntosh says he believes that the new design, with coverage split into more than a dozen specialist property sectors, including planning, legal, construction etc, offers a more enticing prospect for advertisers and sponsors.

Compropscotland.com will be updated five days a week, in contrast to the previous version which published a 12-page weekly issue.
