ONE of the biggest stories of last week in the Scottish press is said to have been the result of new reporter at the Edinburgh Evening News using Twitter.
Reports journalism.co.uk, Victoria Raimes – who has been at the paper for just two weeks – had been in conversation with a Twitter follower about his Edinburgh Fringe Festival show, when it was mentioned that a corpse had been found in the flat above his.
It is said the dead body had gone undiscovered for five years.
The story was splashed in the Evening News and understood to have been picked up by nine Scottish national titles.
She is quoted in journalism.co.uk: “Each week, I pick up a page lead from Twitter. You do have to be interested in it [Twitter]. I would encourage every regional journalist to use it.”
