SCOTS actor, Gregor Fisher, leads the cast in what is being described as a ‘tense, psychological thriller’, made by stv productions and being screened next month on television.
Missing also stars Joanne Froggatt and is about a homeless girl who gets caught up in the hunt for a violent killer. In two parts, it’s being broadcast on stv on November 2 and 9, at 9pm.
The drama reunites the BAFTA award-winning duo behind The Cops – writer, Jimmy Gardner, and executive producer, Eric Coulter.
It’s based on the best-selling novel, ‘Missing’, by Karin Alvtegen.
Says Coulter, head of drama at stv productions: “Missing is an edge-of-your-seat thriller with great twists and turns and real emotional depth. We are delighted to bring such an exciting story to the screen and to have assembled a wealth of talent both in front of and behind the camera.”
Filmed in Glasgow, Missing is produced by Alan J ‘Willy’ Wands and directed by Ian Madden.
It was actually filmed four years ago, following a commission from ITV, to produce two 90-minute episodes.
The programme was delivered three years ago, but by this time ITV had changed its drama slots to 60 minutes. In other words, Missing no longer fitted neatly into the ITV network schedule.
So, stv has chosen to use its opt-out facility, from the network, to screen Missing itself.
