WELCOME to Media Movers – tracking appointments, retirements, etc among Scotland’s busy media community.
AND firstly, several congratulations at The Herald & Times Group of newspapers, not least the appointment of Graham Shields as editor of the Evening Times. Previously group sports editor, he succeeds Rob Bruce, who left the company on the eighth of this month.
Also, congratulations to Graeme Smith, who moves from senior assistant editor at The Herald to become deputy editor, in so doing succeeding Barclay McBain, who will be working as consultant executive editor and overseeing (among other things) IPSO complaints and ‘special editorial projects’.

AMONG other changes, Garry Scott becomes senior assistant editor at The Herald (having previously been group features editor), Gary Keown becomes The Herald’s sports editor (previously a sportswriter on the paper), Lindsay Archibald becomes group digital editor (joining from the Daily Record), Deborah Anderson becomes deputy news editor at the Evening Times (previously was assistant news editor) and Carolyn Churchill becomes deputy news editor at The Herald (also previously assistant news editor).
Also, Stacey Mullen becomes crime reporter at the Evening Times (having been group digital content editor) and Linda Howard has been appointed as a digital journalist across the group, following having done shifts there.

AND after 12 years as personal assistant to several editors – and the current editor-in-chief, Magnus Llewellyn – Margaret Morrison is retiring on Friday.
Well known for her being one of the main organisers, over several years, of the Press Ball, run by the Glasgow and West of Scotland branch of the Journalists’ Charity from which she will stand down on Monday.
Lorraine Woods, from the Daily Record & Sunday Mail, will handle administration for the Ball.
