THE Scots division of the magazine publishers body, the Professional Publishers Association, has appointed, as a committee member, the editor-in-chief of the DC Thomson titles, The Scots Magazine and My Weekly.
Sally Hampton has been voted by PPA Scotland members on to the PPA Scotland executive committee, to join chair Neil Braidwood (director CMYK Design), vice-chair Paul McNamee (editor The Big Issue), Alan Ramsay (MD Connect Communications), Fraser Allen (CEO White Light Media) and Justin Chater (director Pinpoint Scotland).

BEGINS the website, pedestrian.tv (here): “Sad news from the creative internet community today, with word emerging that [Scot] Ryan McHenry, the genius behind the much beloved ‘Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal’ series of Vine videos, has passed away at the age of 27, following a battle with cancer.”
The Scotsman today reports (on page ten) McHenry was born in Dumfries and studied in Edinburgh.

AN Inverness-based creative industries festival, XpoNorth (formerly known as goNORTH), is said to have received almost 3,000 entries from filmmakers around the world, looking to be part of its programme.
Says a media announcement, here: “XpoNorth director, Amanda Millen, put a call out for submissions in January this year for short films to screen at the festival which takes place in the Highland capital in June.”

“The 2015 PR Week Top 150 league table found BIG was the largest agency outside the capital, with fee income for the calendar year 2014 reaching £7.8 million – a rise of 11 per cent on the previous 12 months, following a year of strong growth.”
