FIRSTLY, congratulations to Kayt Turner on her appointment as picture editor at The Scotsman. She was previously group magazines picture editor at the trio of newspapers published by The Scotsman Publications Ltd: The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News.

CONGRATULATIONS too to a recent former reporter on several newspapers published by Clyde & Forth Press, including Clydebank Post and the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter.
Sahil Jaidka has begun as a producer on the sports bulletins on Sky News, as reported here.

AS reported last week, the Scots business correspondent and presenter on Channel 4 news, Sarah Smith, is joining BBC Scotland, to present a news and current affairs late evening programme, as part of the Corporation’s coverage of the upcoming referendum on Scots independence.

ALSO as reported last week, Murray Foote and Jim Wilson have been named editors of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers, respectively.

STV has strengthened its news team serving the Highlands and Islands, with the appointment of video journalist, Alan Jenkins, to its Inverness team.
Alan will join reporter, Nicola McAlley, and camera person, Alasdair Macpherson.
Previously a reporter and video journalist with STV’s news team in Dundee, Alan has also worked at Radio Tay in Dundee and CNN in Atlanta, United States.
