THE football journalist, Graham Spiers, has urged BBC Scotland to lift its suspension of fellow pundit, Tam Cowan, following heavily-criticised comments about women’s football.
A week last Saturday, BBC Scotland withdrew Cowan from the Off the Ball show he co-presents, following a column for that day’s edition of the Daily Record.
Cowan later claimed his comments were ‘tongue-in-cheek’.
And Spiers, on The Herald website today, writes: “I have to admit, I’m surprised at the Beeb in Glasgow. I work there myself and love its range of people, ideas, subject-matter and torch-shining on Scotland. This fuss, though, has taken me aback.”
