A COMEDY drama for Halloween week is among the upcoming highlights on BBC Radio Scotland.
Legend of the Holyrood Vampires is among the announcements in the station’s Autumn schedule – launched today – and it will feature familiar comedy names, including Karen Dunbar, Ford Kiernan, Cariad Lloyd and Greg McHugh.
Says a BBC Radio Scotland media release about the drama: “The Victorian yarn, written by author and stand-up, A.L. Kennedy, takes the listener back to Edinburgh in 1844. Victoria Van Helsing , a 19th-century Buffy the Vampire slayer, (Cariad Lloyd) sets out to destroy the fearsome Grafin Von Schwartzbergen (Gabriel Quigley), a centuries-old vampire who seeks to turn the capital into a city of dreadful night.
“ Meanwhile, affliction assessor, Hughie Strang (Greg McHugh), is travelling the city in search of paupers most deserving of assistance, and is inevitably sucked into Victoria’s quest.
“The four-part comedy drama, produced by the Comedy Unit for BBC Radio Scotland, airs from Monday, 28 October – Thursday, 31 October, at 1.30 pm.”
The release quotes BBC Radio Scotland head, Jeff Zycinksi, of the whole schedule: ‘It’s a terrific line-up of programming for our audiences to enjoy this Autumn. Our varied schedule on Radio Scotland with quality speech programming, such as drama and documentaries, during the day, and a fantastic selection of music shows in the evening, gives our listeners a great choice. ”
