OF the several media podcasts that are around, arguably the best known is the Media Show, presented by media commentator, Steve Hewlett, for BBC Radio 4.
Broadcast every Wednesday, at 1630, yesterday’s show included discussion about the rebranding of News International as News UK.
The show also looked at the in-tray for the new BBC One controller, Charlotte Moore – only the third woman to occupy the post and coming to the role from a documentaries background. Seems like a popular appointment.
Hewlett has an easy, knowledgeable interrogation style. He is also a columnist on The Guardian and, for several years, he has been a genial but sharp host of discussions at the Edinburgh International Television Festival. There is really no-one more qualified in the UK to be at the helm of this type of programme.
