BBC Scotland’s reporting of the financial problems that affected Rangers Football Club last year has been partly criticised by its own governing body.
It follows language used to distinguish the club and its owners, with two complaints alleging there was inaccurate use of the terms ‘old’ and ‘new’ as they applied to the club and its ownership structure, the concern being that ‘old’ and ‘new’ didn’t apply to the club, only the ownership.
The complaints about the accuracy of the language were upheld, but a complaint of ‘anti-Rangers bias’ was not upheld.
The BBC Trust’s conclusions are reported on BBC Scotland’s website.
BBC Scotland is quoted, as saying: “We note the findings of the report.”
