A MASTERS degree in TV drama screenwriting – offered by Glasgow Caledonian University – has received a ‘quality mark’ accreditation.
Says the GCU: “The course was developed collaboratively with industry, experts and employers to produce the next generation of television scriptwriters. Taught by both academic staff and top TV scriptwriters, it has been recognised for preparing students for careers in writing for existing long-running shows, as well as developing their own original drama. Previous graduates are now writing for popular shows such as EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Doctors and Waterloo Road.”
And it has been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick, described as ‘the industry quality kitemark’.
GCU goes on to say: “This is the first time it has ever been awarded to a screenwriting course that focuses solely on TV drama.”
Creative Skillset is the licensed Sector Skills Council for entertainment media, fashion and textiles, publishing and advertising, marketing and communications.
