MEDIA professionals from around the world are being invited to learn, among other things, leadership skills as part of a virtual classroom launching next month as a Masters degree in Scotland.
The MA International Journalism for Media Professionals degree is being offered by Edinburgh Napier University and will comprise distance learning with the option of attending a week-long residential course in May.
Says a media release issued by Edinburgh Napier: “On this cutting-edge degree, media professionals will join a community of peers around the globe to develop leadership attributes, explore innovative forms of media practice, enhance their global mobility and expand the scope of their professional expertise.”
Three components to the course are being taught by Charles Fletcher, Craig McGill and Rachel Dungar.
Fletcher will teach the ‘Leadership & Entrepreneurship in the Media’ component, while McGill’s remit is ‘Crossplatform Journalism & Media Practice’. Dungar, meanwhile, will be teaching the ‘Global Current Affairs across Cultures’ component.
Students who have signed up so far have between one and 20 years’ experience in the media, most of them over ten years. And the international mix thus far includes Hong Kong, Dubai, Turkey, Nigeria and Scotland.
