ELEVEN promising Scotland-based filmmakers are to get their film ideas developed after being shortlisted under an initiative now celebrating its tenth birthday.
The Scottish Documentary Institute has shortlisted 11 proposals that will be now subjected to intensive workshop sessions – as part of the Bridging the Gap initiative – ahead of pitches in February to determine four winners, that will be made as short films, with the help of £8,000 each, plus other support.
The shortlisted filmmakers are:
* Genevieve Bicknell
* David Brodie
* Felipe Bustos Sierra
* Julie French
* Scott Harris
* Chih-Peng Lucas Kao
* Charlotte Mackie
* Valerie Mellon
* Maurice O’Brien
* Jen Randall, and
* Yasmin Samir-Shakir
The hope, as in the past, is that the completed films will make it on to the film festivals circuit.
A production last year – titled, The Perfect Fit, about the making of ballet shoes – has been long-listed for a ‘Documentary (short subject)’ Oscar.
