FIVE days after it was being reported that STV was broadcasting a sports awards ceremony rather than a Christmas show being presented by singer, Rod Stewart, from Stirling Castle, the broadcaster has announced it is beating the rest of the UK by 24 hours.
A report in The Scottish Scottish on Saturday had STV viewers missing out on the show, being broadcast on the ITV network this coming Sunday.
There was speculation the show would instead be broadcast on Hogmanay by STV, but today the broadcaster has announced it is transmitting it this coming Saturday.
A STV media release begins: “STV have successfully secured the worldwide premiere of music legend Rod Stewart’s festive show on Saturday, 8th December – a day before viewers in the rest of the UK.”
The sports awards show, meanwhile, is the Sunday Mail Scottish Sports Awards 2012.
