PAUL Kiddie has been communications manager for Heart of Midlothian Football Club since January five years ago.
He joined newspaper publishers, DC Thomson, straight from school in 1984 as a sub-editor with The Weekly News, moving on to the sports desk of the Dundee Evening Telegraph five years later.
He joined the Edinburgh Evening News in 1996 and spent ten years there, the latter six breaking stories as the Hearts correspondent during arguably the most tumultuous period in the club’s history. After a year in the USA, he returned to Scotland to take up his current position.
He submitted this on Wednesday, November 7 – just hours before he was then required to post a statement on the club website, stating that Hearts could be out of business by next Friday. At which point his media day soon took a new twist.
