SCREEN Academy Scotland – the screenwriters, directors, producers and filmmakers’ training centre – has had three of its courses accredited for the first time by the creative industries skills body, Creative Skillset.
The academy – operated by Edinburgh Napier University and the Edinburgh College of Art – has also had five of its courses re-accredited.
The eight courses to have been recognised by Creative Skillset are: BA TV; BDes Graphic Design, MA Film, MFA Advanced Film Practice, MA Screenwriting, MSc Publishing, BA Film & TV, and MA/MFA Film Directing.
It is estimated that, since its launch seven years ago, Screen Academy Scotland has helped over 300 screenwriters, directors, producers and filmmakers start their screen career.
In a media release, Professor Robin MacPherson, director of Screen Academy Scotland, is quoted, as saying: “This industry-led confirmation of the excellence and industry relevance of our practice-based programmes demonstrates the leading role Edinburgh Napier and ECA play in skills provision for Scotland’s creative industries.”
