Two don’t make it in bid for community radio licences

WHILE two recent applications to run a community radio station in Scotland were approved by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, a further two didn’t make it.

As reported on allmediascotland.com on Thursday, Penicuik-based Crystal FM and Haddington-based East Coast FM were both successful in their applications, the former serving Midlothian, the latter East Lothian.

The not-for-profit operations were each awarded a community radio broadcasting licence for five years.

But two applications were rejected: East Lothian FM, also based in Haddington and APNA Radio, Edinburgh, submitted by Voice of the Scottish Asian Ltd.
