THE production arm of STV has been commissioned to produce a two-part drama for ITV1.
The Poison Tree is based on a novel, by Erin Kelly, and the commission from ITV1 is from STV Productions and finance and legal organisation, GroupM Entertainment.
It is described by ITV1 as a “psychological and atmospheric thriller”.
Says a ITV1 media release: “The Poison Tree was ordered by Laura Mackie, Director of Drama Commissioning at ITV. The scripts for both episodes are written by Emilia di Girolamo (EastEnders, Law & Order UK).
“The Poison Tree will go into production this summer and will transmit on ITV1 later this year.”
Exec producing it for STV will be Margaret Enefer, Head of Drama for STV Productions.
The release continues: “This is the first drama deal between GroupM Entertainment, ITV1 and STV and will open the door to new funding opportunities for drama.”
