A GLASGOW-based independent TV production company is to screen on the internet two one-day international cricket matches involving Scotland.
The matches – versus Canadam in Edinburgh, on Monday and Wednesday – are to be broadcast by QuipuTV, which in May screened Scotland versus South Africa hockey matches.
QuipuTV will be also screening, on the internet, one-day matches between the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates (in Rotterdam, on the 21st and 23rd of this month).
Says a QuipuTV media release: “[We] continue to build [our] cricket portfolio after the successful livestreaming of 14 matches from the [International Cricket Council] World Twenty20 Qualifiers in Dubai in March.”
But, says managing director, Jack McGill: “The financial reality is that we can only provide skeleton coverage of these matches, but we want to demonstrate to fans of Associate and Affiliate cricket and to the ICC that we are committed to this level of the sport and want to assist with its continued development.”
The release quotes Cricket Scotland chief executive, Roddy Smith, as saying: “The livestreaming of Scotland’s matches in the last 18 months has been warmly received by fans and players, and enabled thousands to watch matches they otherwise could not attend, so it’s fantastic that QuipuTV are once again committed to supporting these internationals.”
