A SERVICE soon launching, comprising TV channels available to view on the internet, has added STV to its roster.
Today, YouView – an internet TV service that combines the UK’s Freeview channels with on-demand content – was formally launched.
And says STV, it has been selected as “one of the first of two initial additional content partners”.
Continues STV, in a media release: “At a launch event today, Lord [Alan] Sugar, chair of YouView, announced that STV’s content will be available via the platform, alongside the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. YouView will offer subscription-free digital TV, catch-up and a selection of pay TV. Sky’s new internet TV service, NOW TV, has also been selected as an additional content partner.”
It is understood there were around 300 applicants for the two content partner slots.
The statement quotes, Bobby Hain, Director of Channels at STV, as saying: “As Scotland’s leading commercial broadcaster, STV is delighted to confirm its role as a content partner to YouView. STV has an excellent track-record of delivering informative, relevant and entertaining content to audiences and consumers across a wide range of platforms. Today’s announcement further extends our STV Anywhere strategy delivering content wherever and whenever consumers want it.”
