The Scots-born former chief executive of ITV, Sir Charles Allen, has been appointed 'mayor' of the Olympic Village in London.
The role, reports today's Herald newspaper, will involve hosting guests and dignatories, speaking at events and “keeping a high profile and approachable presence for athletes, officials and volunteers”.
