A DISPUTE between Rangers football club and the BBC has reportedly been extended.
Writes Martin Hannan in Scotland on Sunday, a dispute between the club and the broadcaster – which saw Rangers owner, Craig Whyte, last week accuse the latter of conducting ‘witch-hunt’ – yesterday saw the BBC being prevented from recording a post-match press conference.
Reports Hannan: “Until yesterday the club had allowed the BBC to attend post-match press conferences, which are normally open to all accredited media, but had not provided interviews with players or the manager.
“After the club’s 4-1 victory over Dunfermline Athletic, listeners to Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme heard BBC reporter, Chris McLaughlin, state that a Rangers press officer had stopped him recording. A witness said: ‘He was asked to remove his microphone and the conference carried on.'”
