A NEW documentary filmmaking competition is calling for applications, with a screening on BBC Scotland on offer.
Bridging the Gap+ is an addition to the well-established Bridging the Gap programme run by the Scottish Documentary Institute.
While Briding the Gap is about funding and providing support in kind towards the making of ten minute-long documentaries, it’s ‘+’ counterpart is aimed at more experienced documentary-makers. Up for grabs are two, 30-minute slots on BBC Scotland.
The deadline for applications is the 24th of next month.
Says the SDI: “Six projects will be selected on the basis of the proposal and the profile of the filmmaker. We are looking for ambitious emerging Scottish-based filmmakers willing to develop projects to engage with a BBC Scotland television audience and to explore stories with Scottish relevance. In the following weeks they will be developed and honed further through two individual consultancies.
“Among these six projects, two will be commissioned, produced through SDI Productions and transmitted by BBC Scotland.”
