Members of the Unite trade union staged a rally outside the headquarters of BBC Scotland and STV on Saturday, over a perceived lack of reporting of a threatened pay cut facing electricians.
Reports Union-News.co.uk, electricians are facing a possible 35 per cent pay cut in large parts of the construction industry and the protest outside the BBC, including a brief occupation of the entrance to the HQ, “called on the public service broadcaster to give fair coverage to their four-month dispute”.
There have been similar rallies at other well-known locations throughout the UK, including the main site for the Olympic Games in London. The threatened pay cut is because of plans by a group of major construction companies to withdraw from nationwide agreements.
