A fundraising appeal being run by STV, to support children and young people in Scotland affected by poverty, has announced the backing of some of the country's top corporate names.
Launched in May by STV and The Hunter Foundation, the STV Appeal will involve the broadcasting of various related programmes this month, including a live, fundraising show a fortnight today.
As well as committing to providing airtime and resources to the appeal, STV has agreed to match £-for-£, up to the tune of £100,000, whatever is raised during the appeal, with a minimum donation of £25,000.
And joining in are major Scottish brands including Optical Express, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Capital FM Scotland, Primesight, CBS Outdoor and Mackie's of Scotland.
For instance, Capital FM Scotland is broadcasting live auctions during its drivetime show (4pm-7pm) Monday through to Friday week beginning a week on Monday, while – to promote the appeal – Primesight has donated 20 digital advertising screens on the Glasgow subway and CBS Outdoor has donated 100 bus sides.
The STV Appeal is working closely with six major Scottish charities: Aberlour, Action for Children, Barnardo’s Scotland, Children 1st, Save the Children Scotland and One Parent Families Scotland.
