Northsound, the Aberdeen-based commercial radio station, is set to air live commentary of up-coming Scottish football fixtures.
Northsound 2, one of the broadcaster’s two stations, has secured a commentary deal with the Scottish Premier League allowing listeners to tune into live action from all of Aberdeen Football Club’s home and away ties.
Presenters Dave Macdermid and Steven McMenemy will be commentating on each SPL fixture facing the club, while Gary Muircroft will host the Superscoreboard show each week with regular updates also being broadcast on sister station, Northsound 1.
Programme director at Northsound Radio, Muircroft, is quoted in a media release issued by The BIG Partnership as saying: “I am delighted that we have secured live Clydesdale Bank Premier League commentary on Northsound Radio for the 2011/2012 season.
“There is great optimism in the North-east for Craig Brown’s Aberdeen team after his recent signings and pre-season tour. It’s fantastic that Northsound listeners will have the chance to hear every kick of the ball on Northsound 2.”
Neil Doncaster, chief executive of the SPL, adds: “These deals not only drive more investment into our clubs, but also broaden the coverage of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League for fans.
“We look forward to working with Northsound 2 over the coming season.”
