A two-part BBC Scotland crime drama centred around a fictitious Glasgow newspaper is to be broadcast across the rest of the UK.
According to today’s Daily Record, The Field of Blood – a crime thriller set in the Scottish city in 1982 and one of a trilogy of books by Denise Mina – will make a network appearance next month after a successful showing north of the Border.
A spokeswoman for BBC Scotland confirmed the decision had been taken to show the first series – which aired in Scotland in May – throughout the UK.
However, no discussions over a second series being commissioned have taken place, she added.
Starring former River City star Jayd Johnson and Still Game’s Ford Kiernan, the mini series follows a young want-to-do-it-all 'copygirl' and would-be journalist, Paddy Meehan, as she chases down a scoop on the murder of a two year-old boy for fictitious Glasgow-based newspaper, the Daily News, before finding her loyalties split as her own family is drawn into the killing.
