A lifting earlier this year of a ban on 'product placements' in TV programmes sees STV tomorrow taking advantage of the new regime for the first time.
Tomorrow's edition of the magazine show, The Hour, will see 'product placement' involving both Scottish Borders Council and the supermarket, Lidl.
The show is being broadcast live from the annual Royal Highland Show, in Edinburgh.
Viewers of The Hour will see the ‘P’ product placement logo before the show and after the commercial break, alerting them that product placement will feature on the programme.
The ban on product placement in UK television shows was lifted in February. Earlier this year, STV announced it had invested in a joint venture with MirriAd, which specialises in digital product placement. MirriAd partners with broadcasters and brand owners to place products digitally into existing video content.
