An awards competition celebrating the best of TV production has issued a call for entries.
The Royal Television Society is seeking entries for its Craft & Design Awards, which, say organisers, “recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production, from costume design and digital effects to editing and lighting”.
The award categories are:
Graphic Design – recognises achievement in trails and packaging, programme content sequences and titles.
Makeup Design – recognises achievement in all areas of makeup including hair styling and wigs in categories of drama and entertainment and non-drama productions.
Costume Design – recognises achievement in drama and entertainment and non–drama productions.
Production Design – recognises achievement in drama and entertainment and non–drama productions.
Effects – recognises achievement from any area of programme making in categories of digital effects, special effects and picture enhancement.
Photography – recognises achievement in drama and documentary/factual and non-drama productions. The photography awards are designed to recognise location-based single camera work.
Lighting and Multicamera – recognises achievement in lighting for multicamera and multicamera work. The multicamera awards are designed to recognise those who work in studio-based or OB multicamera programming across all genres.
Sound – recognises achievement in drama and entertainment and non-drama productions. These awards recognise the whole sound team and both recording supervisor and mixing supervisor should be named on the entry form.
Tape and Film Editing – recognises achievement in drama, documentary/factual and entertainment and situation comedy. This award is designed to recognise skills in tape editing in multicamera studio/OB programming.
Music – recognises achievement in original title music and original score. The titles or score must be specially commissioned for a specific programme.
Awards given at the discretion of the jury chairs include:
Design and Craft Innovation – recognises outstanding achievement from any area of programme making, demonstrating innovative use of technology or techniques.
Judges’ Award – recognises outstanding contribution to television craft and design within the criteria year.
Lifetime Achievement Award – recognises an outstanding achievement of creative craft or design.
