The TV-viewing public can make themselves heard today as polling opens for prizes up for grabs at the Edinburgh International TV Festival.
The Channel of the Year Awards, part of the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, will be handed out on August 27, with the winner partially determined through popular vote.
Last year’s victors for the terrestrial and non-terrestrial channel of the year prizes were Channel 4 and BBC 3 respectively, and gongs went to Outnumbered, The Inbetweeners and Misfits in the programming categories. This year's awards are sponsored by Arqiva.
The public's part in the process is to deliver the shortlists, which will then be voted on by the festival's committee and delegates attending the awards ceremony itself. As is normal, the festival – founded in 1976 – takes place over three days during the final weekend of August.
