STV swoops for Telfer to provide rugby analysis

ONE of Scotland’s best-known figures in rugby union has been recruited by STV to provide analysis during the upcoming Six Nations championships.

Former Scotland and British Lions backrow forward and coach, Jim Telfer, will be writing for stv.tv also about the rugby World Cup, taking place in Autumn and which is being broadcast by STV.

Telfer was coach of the Scotland side that won the ‘Grand Slam’ in 1984.

As Scotland’s match versus France takes place on Saturday, he will be online throughout, offering his thoughts and interacting live with readers. Telfer was head coach of the Lions in 1983 and assistant in 1997. He was assistant to Ian McGeechan when Scotland won the Grand Slam in 1990.

In a statement issued by STV, web editor, Robert Dawson Scott, is quoted, saying: “There are few figures in world rugby who speak with more authority than Jim Telfer. We are delighted to have secured his exclusive engagement with stv.tv for this year’s Six Nations and the World Cup, which will be televised on STV, and we look forward to his usual forthright analyses as the matches unfold.”
