On Friday, BBC Scotland news presenter, Jackie Bird, co-hosts the TV charity fundraiser, Children in Need. At this rate, she might need use of the bandage that the charity's mascot, Pudsey, wears: on account of a black eye.
allmediascotland understands it was a swimming accident that led to the shiner: Bird is said to have been racing her son and tried to hold him back, at which point she caught a sore one.
And today was the first time, since the accident last Friday, she has been on screen.
