BBC Radio Scotland is to broadcast eight new comedy series over the next few months, starting tomorrow.
Actors and comedians of the calibre of Brian Cox, Jonathan Watson, Lewis Macleod, Sarah Millican, Jim Jeffries, Sanjeev Kohli and former Perrier Comedy Award winner, Laura Solon, have all been lined up to appear in the shows, which will be broadcast following the Comedy Cafe on BBC Radio Scotland, presented by Janice Forsyth on a Friday, and will each comprise four parts.
Each part is to be 15 minutes long and will be on from 1.45pm to 2pm.
The first series features stand-up comedian, Sarah Millican, presenting international and local comedians in Sarah at the Stand – including Jim Jeffries, Reginald D Hunter, Brendon Burns and Alun Cochrane.
The other series are:
Bob Servant, starring Brian Cox, Sanjeev Kohli and Laura Solon and written by Dundonian comic novelist, Neil Forsyth. It begins from the 29th of next month.
Car Pool – starting December 10 – is described by the BBC as “a comedy show about love, life and car journeys”.
Piano Lessons – from January 7 – has been written by Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp.
News Additional – starting February 4 – stars comic impressionist, Jonathan Watson, playing a news anchorman, Dan Logan.
Laverloch Findo Speaks is written by the acclaimed writer and now stand-up comedian, A L Kennedy, and airs from Friday, March 4.
In Ruby, Ruby Kohli dreams of being an entrepreneur. It is written by Sanjeev Kohli and Donald McLeary and transmits from Friday, April 1.
In Sybil Law, Sybil is, says the BBC, “an 89 year-old beekeeping, rule-breaking, still driving (although frequently kerb mounting) Morris Minor owning, pomposity hating, cause-fighting, dog-loving, chaos maker”. It transmits from Friday, April 29.
