Scottish radio station, Galaxy Scotland, is being re-branded as part of an UK-wide branding process by owners, Global Radio.
Comprising a mix of music, interviews, news and traffic reports, Galaxy Scotland will be changing its name to Capital, along with eight other stations across the UK, to complement London's Capital FM.
Says Global's director of broadcaster, Scot, Richard Park: “Scotland is an extremely important market for Global and our new station will offer listeners an established and trusted brand, delivered locally. Central Scotland will continue to wake up to the popular duo, Des and Vanessa, at breakfast and Garry Spence will remain at drive time. We will also introduce new radio talent, including The Bassman and Roberto, who will present daytime shows every weekday. Local news will continue to be produced in Glasgow and advertising will also remain focused to the Scottish audience.”
Park, who began his radio career at Radio Clyde, and has become one of the UK’s foremost radio programmers, added: “Believe me, this is brilliant news, not just for Scotland, but for the radio industry as a whole.”
