Free-to-air transmissions of the away fixtures involving the Scotland men's football team – in its bid to qualify for the 2012 European Championships – are to take place, following a deal struck by BBC Scotland.
The live coverage begins on the third of next month, when Craig Levein makes his debut as team manager, against Lithuania.
While BSkyB have the rights to broadcast home ties, BBC Scotland will be at the Darius Girenas Stadium in Kaunas on September 3, followed by the Czech Republic on October 8. It's then onto Liechtenstein on October 8 next year, followed by Spain, the reigning World and European champions, four days later.
The broadcaster also announced today renewed contracts with the Scottish Football Association to provide live radio commentary of Scottish Cup matches and Scotland's home internationals for the next four years.
The radio contract complements the recently announced agreement with the SFA to screen a minimum of five live Scottish Cup games, including the final, and highlights of all home internationals.
BBC Scotland has also renewed for a further three years its agreement to screen live four Co-operative Insurance Cup matches, including the final.
Said Ewan Angus, head of sport at BBC Scotland: “We are delighted we will be able to show our audiences full live coverage of all the away games in the national team's campaign.
“Securing the rights for these vital fixtures together with the home international and domestic cup contracts underline our commitment to being a broadcaster of live football.”
